This is effective because it gives off an image of the sun that is shiny looking. It gives us the impression that the sun looks enthralling.

alliteration - 'scary spider', this is where you use the same sound and letter and the start of two or more continuous words. This puts emphasis on the object.
ReplyDeleteonomatopoeia - 'pow, crash, bang', this puts emphasis on the action as it sounds like what it is describing.
metaphor - 'luke is a ginger squirrel', saying something IS something compares the two objects and shows you how similar they are. This puts emaphasis on the object because its comparing it to something shocking.

"polished to perfection" -Alliteration
ReplyDeleteThis suggeests that the liquid sun is devine and can't be blemished by an inferior being like a human. The sun is prestine like God.
-When utilized in text metaphors create a comparison between the two subjects. 'The eyes were saphires.' when it states the eyes have resemblance to saphires it makes the reader realise their blue intensity.
ReplyDelete-when hyperbole is included its exageration creates a vivid picture in the readers mind. 'floods of tears' not only does this have metaphorical effect it portrays how miserable the crying person.
-Symolism keeps the reader interested as it explains a wide concept in a minimal phrase. 'rose' the rose symbolises romance so the reader instantly recognises the meaning.

How does the poem’s structure support the meaning of the poem?
ReplyDeleteDharker uses a combination of punctuation and enjambment in ‘Blessing’ to show the flow of water. The poem begins with short punctual sentences which emphasise the lack of flowing water. “There never is enough water.” The short sentences suggest to the reader that the water stops abruptly and that the people are suffering. However later on in the poem, as the pipe bursts, Dharker uses enjambment to represent the constant rush of water and that there is nothing to hold the people back anymore.
Dharkers use of poem stucture in the poem "Blessing" portrays the meaning of the poem by using enjabment. The snetence "From the huts, a congregation : every man woman child for streets around butts in, with pots, brass, copper, aluminium, plastic buckets, frantic hands," suggests that because its arranged with almost no puncuation it adds a sense of the never ending flow of water. Also by using the words "Man", "Woman" and "children" it implies the unity between the people of the village, suggesting that they have all come together for the little flow of water!
